The Chocolate House resides in what was for 400 years the hall of The George, a coaching inn built in 1323. The comfort of an open log fire has been replaced by shelves of comfort foods – chocolate, fudge, Italian pastries and Turkish confectionery. There’s a warm, friendly coffee shop serving hot chocolate, affogato, and other specialty coffees, not to mention 30 flavours of Marshfield’s popular organic ice cream. The shop has a rustic, eclectic ambience with its collection of gifts made by local producers, vintage West Country pottery, and art and treasure. All visitors are sweet and are welcome in the Chocolate House. Free ice cream for dogs and babies.
